Exterior House Painting in Sydney

Exterior painting helps refresh the look of your home from the street. Before choosing how to prepare and paint, we consider the condition of each surface and the area around it, so the finish suits the house and the conditions it sits in.

Exterior Surfaces We Paint

Exterior surfaces vary from house to house. Plaster, previously painted surfaces, timber, metal, concrete and masonry all behave differently, so each may need different preparation, a different primer, or a different paint, stain or coating.

Walls and Previously Painted Surfaces

We assess the existing paint and the surface beneath it, then prepare and paint with a system that suits it.

Eaves and Fascias

Eaves and fascias frame the roofline and are often where weathering shows first. We prepare and paint them so the edges are clean and the finish ties in with the rest of the house.

Gutters, Downpipes and Window Frames

Gutters, downpipes and window frames are prepared and painted to suit their material, so they sit neatly with the walls, trims and roofline.

Single-Storey and Two-Storey Homes

We paint the exteriors of single-storey and two-storey houses. Access is planned to suit the height and layout of the house, and we'll talk it through when we look at the job.

Timber

Exterior timber can be painted or, where you'd prefer to see the grain, stained or oiled. We'll talk through which suits the timber and the look you want.

Garages and Garage Doors

We paint garage walls, ceilings and garage doors, choosing preparation and paint to suit the material, whether that's plaster, masonry, timber or metal.

Fixtures and Related Items

Suitable building fixtures, fittings and related items can also be prepared and painted as part of the job. We'll confirm what's suitable when we look at the work.

Preparation Before Exterior Painting

Most exterior paint problems start with preparation. Where needed, preparation can include:

  • pressure cleaning suitable exterior surfaces and allowing them to dry properly before painting or coating

  • filling small holes and fixing screw or nail marks

  • repairing minor surface cracks and damaged areas

  • patching, sanding and smoothing surfaces

If an area needs more attention than expected, we'll let you know and discuss it with you before moving ahead.

Choosing the Right Exterior System

Before starting, we assess each surface and its condition, then recommend a system that suits it. Dulux is our preferred paint. Where there's more than one suitable way to approach the job, we talk through the options with you.

Exterior Colour Advice

The colours you choose for walls, trims, eaves and fascias shape how your home looks from the street. We can provide colour advice to help you choose a scheme that suits the house, its surroundings and the look you want.

Spray Painting Outdoors

Spray painting is available for suitable surfaces and projects. Outdoors, the surrounding area matters as much as the surface, so the method is chosen job by job rather than used automatically.

Protecting Your Home

Surrounding surfaces are covered and protected to suit the work being done before painting begins.

Exterior Painting for Older Homes

Weatherboards, verandahs, fretwork and timber windows on Federation and period homes need extra care. See heritage and Federation house painting.

Pair It With Other Outdoor Work

While we're working outside, the same team can also look after deck staining and oiling, garage floor and driveway coatings, and gutter cleaning.
